Annual NASN Conference

Published

Hi...Are any of you school nurses planning to attend the annual National Association of School Nurses conference in June taking place in Chicago? I would love to go...I have my break-out sessions chosen but not enough $$$ !!! I think I am going to save my money (what little I have!) all year and hopefully attend the conference in 2011 in Washington, DC...and stop by to say hello to the Obamas while I'm there! If you are attending this year, please report back to those of us left behind! Thanks!!:nurse:

I am going. There are still some rooms left at the hotel. Can't beat Magnificent Mile for $159 per night!

How to save $$ ?

- share a room - people are looking for roomies

- don't park at hotel

- pack a cooler

- don't go shopping!

- Ask for a PTA mini grant to offset part of registration

- make sure you don't have conference funds as part of your benefits

- see if any $$ leftover that has to be spent before years end. maybe they will just pay for you to go@!

- Mom's Day, Birthday, Christmas gift in one.

This past week at the NASN conference in Chicago was a blast. We had an awesome hotel, the Marriott on Michigan Avenue, the best Chicago weather ever, and great sessions!!@ The shopping, dining, Cubs games and museums in between were a huge plus. The view of the sunrise over Lake Michigan took my breath away! The Illinois nurses and the nearby state partners were excellent hosts. And the Endowment cruise, well, ...... what happens on the Endowment cruise stays on the Endowment cruise. Already looking forward to June 2011 in at the Marriott Wardman Washington DC .

do you have to be a certified school nurse to attend the NASN conference??

No anyone can attend. School nurses in other states have varying levels of education. Anyone can attend the IASN conference in October also.
