I know there have been many of these threads before but I have to vent! I am usually quiet in class, keep to myself, get my work done and do well in the class. Somehow some of the students in my classes pick up on the fact that I do well and they gravitate to me for answers. I do not know these people! They only talk to me when they want something- what the homework assignment was, what the answer to a homework question was, what the class notes were, they want to borrow my lab book or textbook or a pen or whatever else. These people aren't friendly to me, they NEVER EVER speak to me unless they want something!
Does anyone else have this problem? What can I say when someone I don't know comes up to me (and interrupts whatever I'm doing) and asks for the answer to a problem on the homework that I took the time to figure out? It's not like they don't have 4-5 other friends in the class they can't work this out with- they just want to use me for the answer then leave me alone. So what can I say without being totally rude?
I find that in nursing courses as well though. I just transfered schools in to an already-formed-thier-cliques-from-last-semester class. We were reviewing things and I kind of know what I'm talking about... thanks to that awesome externship I took last summer. Anyhoo, the best is when they gravitate toward you and ask for an answer, then question your answer like "well my friend said its done this way"... example... we did a med question.... basic "desire over have" stuff. And I explained the formula and her friend chimes in "no thats not it... its dosage ordered over whats in the bottle".... which is the same god damn thing. lol So the girl was like.. oh new girl is trying to confuse me. So instead of arguing.. I just walked away....
::shrugs:: I dunno.. I just wanna pass and graduate. lol
Just the other day in my class a student was asking a question. The answer was clearly in our reading assignment and also we are having a guest lecturer next week on same subject. The instructor deferred her to read her book and then talk to lecturer.
Student didn't like that and on break was making a big deal about how she isn't paying 10 grand to read her books, she expects the instructors to tell her!!!

I have had some stuck up girls in my class as well. Were all there to learn and Some people think if they put you down and they might look better.
