2 already this morning and it's barely past 9 o'clock .
I'm a new grad ( Jan 2011) and I just passed the NCLEX-RN in July. I started applying to hospitals in my state ( New Jersey) area last week. Many of my fellow graduates who took the NCLEX sooner have found work already ( about half). I just hope I didn't miss the gravy train :crying2:.
I know only having applications in at hospitals for a week is nothing . I don't expect to get interviews this fast, it's not like I have experience or anything but i'm still starting to panic a little. The two rejections this morning spoke about my lack of experience. I have nothing but Customer Service experience ( banking, call centers) so I tried to play up my skills from that and how it related to nursing on my cover letter. Also I have been working strictly from home for the past year and a half so i've tried to down play the fact that my last 2 positions have been work from home positions. Don't want them thinking i'm some sort of recluse that cant's handle working face to face with folks
Anyway I want to make sure i'm giving myself the best chance possible to land a position , somewhere nursing somebody. Maybe my cover letter and resume are not up to par. Would someone be able to help a newbie out and give me some tips. I can post it or email it , whatever. Help please!!!! :)

Take a deep breath and give it time....that's my best advice to you. You're going to get a lot of rejection before your golden ticket comes. 2 rejections in 7 days is nothing to panic about! It sounds like your cover letter is done correctly. Keep applying and give it a few weeks to circulate around the hospitals

I feel your pain too. I constantly get rejection emails because I don't have the experience that they're looking for. Don't give up hope though because it'll come your way before you know it. It's gonna take some time to get that interview. If you don't have much experience, it's always a good start to volunteer at a hospital and network with people. Or work in a LTC, doctor's office, etc. Good luck! :)

I actually got a rejection email and then a month later they called to schedule an interview and I was hired the afternoon of my interview. Silly isn't it? Go back to your school and ask for help with your resume, ask a friend or a previous coworker. Just keep on applying. I applied to around 30 jobs and the 6th job I applied for was the one I was hired for. Never give up :)
