One Rn for 92 bed facility?
One nurse for 92 patients?!?!? Is that a typo? That is ridiculously unsafe. Even some of the most horribly staffed snfs I've come across had ratios way better than that. Please don't do it.

Is this OK?
Go for it. Your DON will probably even be happy for you.

Interqual and/or Milliman training for individuals
Is their anyway I can get this training as an individual or do I have to work for a company that offers training for these criteria. I do have case management and UM experience now but I feel like I am missing out on a lot of opportunities and will not be able to advance or move on to another company because I do not have experience with Milliman and Interqual criteria. I just had an interview for a great part time your/UM gig that fit my schedule perfectly, pay was great, but I don't thing I'll get it because I don't know those criteria. My company does not use the criteria but I would like to learn it to broaden my horizons. Any tips???? Thanks.

Has any one heard of naviHealth?
I had 2 phone interviews with the recruiters and was supposed to have a face to face interview with the recruiter and a second one with the higher ups from the company. Unfortunately I couldn't make the 1st face to face with recruiter so they gave me a third phone interview and then a face to face with the company. I don't have a ton of nursing experience ( 2 years in LTC) but I have a business and finance background so I think that helped me land the position because it is very business oriented too. I'm very excited about the position.

Don't give up hope. I believe the recruiter is the one who makes the calls with the offer. At least that's what happened in my case, so if he said Monday I would go with that. Best of luck to both of you.- Has any one heard of naviHealth?
I'm in NJ. It does seem like a great company. I've decided to accept the offer so hopefully we'll meet in training class in a few weeks.- Has any one heard of naviHealth?
Hi. I had my final face to face interview with them on a Friday and got the job offer on Monday.- Has any one heard of naviHealth?
I've been offered a position with the company. I've been wondering the same thing, if anyone has worked for them although I doubt it as it is a fairly new company.- Giving PRN meds- need some clarification
I'm a new nurse working my very first job at a LTC facility. One of my patients has a prn narcotic and a prn anti-anxiety med. The orders say prn q4h as needed for pain and PRN q4h as needed for anxiety. I may be wrong, being that i'm new and all but to me this means that the patient can get the drugs every 4 hours as needed, no sooner than that. I medicated the patient at 11:00 so the next dose was due at 3. This patient comes about every 4 hours like clock work because he " needs" these meds, so he approached me at 2:00 for his prn's and I told him he wasn't due until 3 pm so the nurse on the next shift would give him his next dose. When the next nurse came in he got nasty with me asking why didn't I give the patient his meds when he asked at 2 . I told him that it wasn't time, 4 hrs were not up yet. This nurse then tells me that we have an hour before and an hour after to give meds so I should've just gave them to him at 2. I said to him that I think that just applies to regularly scheduled meds, not PRN's and I was not going to give are sign for any prn's early, certainly not narcotics. He continued to argue the issue with me and tell me I was wrong so I just left. Now he has me second guessing myself. What is the proper procedure for PRN meds?- Aspiring to be a PHN
Have you tried actually calling the boards of health in your area to ask about open position? I am interested in public health nursing as well but there are never any open positions on the county websites. I decided to call one of the county boards of health to day and low and behold there are 3 entry level nursing positions that are available but were not posted. The personnel lady I spoke to gave me all the info to apply and i'm in the process of completing an application now and hoping for the best. I'm gonna try calling other surrounding counties as well to inquire about openings.- Agency sitting jobs or flu shots part time job
