ancillary nursing

Published

pardon my ignorance... i would like to know what ancillary nursing is all about. im a newly licensed nurse and i've not had any clinical exposure. Im asking this because my friend was hired as ancillary nurse in St Luke's Hospital. How does it differ from a staff nurse, and how is it in terms of employment prospects in US hospitals? Thanks!

ancillary nurses are the one assigned in different department like ultrasound, women's care, cath lab, ct scan, voice and swallowing unit, etc... they assist the doctors in doing procedures... unlike the bedside nurses who are responsible for total patient care...
