ANCC Exam

Specialties Psychiatric

Published

I am planning to reactivate my RNCS ANCC certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. I now have an opportunity to use it. What material was most helpful to study for the exam? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Kinda curious, what do those abbreviations stand for?

It stands for the American Nurses Credentialing Center, a national Certification offered to many nursing specialities and levels of nursing practice. You can check their website at

Zydis, when I went for the test I studdied and studdied, but the test was nothing like I had expected. I took it at the same time as a friend and when we left we both said, "what the F#*@ was that?". We both passed. The test in my eyes just wants to know if you make good psychiatric decisions. Good luck!

Thanks Suez for the encouragement,

I take the Family Psych NP test in two days, and everyone is telling me they walked out of the test with that feeling, but all our grads have passed so far!!

We used the new ANCC review guide and Claire Houseman's CNS guide for review and questions.

They are about to redo the test so there is only a brief time frame the rest of this year that you can take it. We wanted to go ahead and get it over with while it was still fresh. Check the ANCC site for details.

Good luck!

Good luck with your endeavors! Let me know how you made out! Thanks for the support as well!

Hi all,

I passed the Family Psych NP exam!!!

Good luck to all other test takers!!!

Congratulations Osorry1!!! That is truly awesome! What are your plans?

I've taken a job at a mental health center that has both inpatient, subacute, groups home and outpatient treatment. That way I can get a wide variety of experience working with all patient populations. And perhaps loan repayment!!
