Hey guys, I'm taking courses at a Community College here in SoCal. I orginaly planned on taking Anatomy over winter session (6 weeks) but decided that even though I probably could earn an A, I felt because of all the cramming that needed to be done over the short semester, I would not be able to remember much after I was done. So, for me not to fall behind a semester, I thinking of taking Anatomy 1 (our school does Anatomy and Physiology as separate courses - as apposed to taking A&P1 and A&P2 - btw, which do you guys think is the best method?) and Chem in the same Spring semester.
I aced Algebra when I took it two semesters ago, and I have been reading that Chem involves quite a bit of math, so I hope to do well in Chem. I'm just wondering if it would too difficult to earn A's in both Anatomy and Chem while at the same time taking Sociology and Psychology. My goal for each course is an A, so it maybe it's best if I just take Anatomy and Chem + either Speech, Socio, or Pysch (btw how hard is this psychology? I've no idea).
Anyhow I'm ranting now....has anyone had any trouble earning an A in both Anatomy and Chem, taking them at the same time, plus another class or two?
Thanks, ladies and gents!

I stink at math and I took both courses and their labs together. Did great in both. It's just a matter of organization and prepping before class. Never cram and you will do fine.

So the computer just messed up and I wrote too much the 1st time, so I apologize for the shorter version this time around :-)
I think it's completely possible to take a full-time load, half being sciences, and get excellent grades. This past semester I took A&P I, Inorganic Chemistry, Nutrition, volunteered 12 hr grave yard shifts in the ER and worked full-time.
If you're thinking about taking A&P I instead of Anatomy and Phys. individually I would highly recommend it. (Anat.: the study of the structure of the body; name of parts, how something works; Phys.: the function of the parts of the body...it might be easier to learn what something is, how it works, etc. at the same time, instead of learning parts of the body and then having to come back next semester and learning how it function)
I'm assuming you're taking intro to Sociology and intro to Psych. or lifespan? Either way they aren't difficult classes, a paper here or there, easy quizzes, mostly class participation points. If possible you should look into taking one of them online. You also mention maybe taking speech instead....it was an easy course also, more verbal than written...so it might be wiser to take speech instead of socio. or psych (just to lessen the written homework assignments).
My advice for your Anat. and Chem classes: GO TO CLASS! Boring or not...GO TO CLASS! (teachers notice stuff like that, whether attendance counts or not) Take notes! Do all assignments and on time....if necessary meet with the teacher or go to tutoring labs to get homework and lab assignment help. And ask questions! And who cares if your classmates roll their eyes because you ask 50 million questions...it's your money, your knowledge, your grade,...half of your class will probably withdraw by midterms anyway. :-)
Oh...my Inorganic Chem class was a lot of math...okay all math! And the only math Im good at is 2+2= 4, 6x2=12, basic stuff. LOL.
I stayed after almost each class to get lab help from the teacher, and even though I didnt want to I went to tutoring labs for the homework assignments (because half way into the semester I went from this mess is easy to *** is this?!?!?!) lol
So it's possible. Start off running, and stay on top of everything, because once you get behind it might be hard to play catch up.

Do you work? I think that makes a huge difference.
If I didn't work, I could have gotten A's in Anatomy and Chem last semester, plus my Psychology class. Since I work full-time, I decided to just do Chem and Psychology, and Chemistry seemed to take up the bulk of my free time. I don't know how I would have had the time to study for Anatomy, too.
I say, if you don't work, it will be easy. If you do work, it is still possible, but you will have to study all the time.

You'll be fine, my dear! I'm just about to wrap up my spring semester (just 2 finals to go next week!) and I took A&P I, Micro, and Chem on top of working this semester. I have a 97% in A&P, 103% in Micro, and 105% in Chem. You'll do just fine taking those together. Just make sure you focus on time management and stay on top of your studying. :)

I took AP1 and Intro Chem last Fall. That wasn't a bad combo. Took Micro and AP2 this Spring that was a bad combo. Just so much information. I have to repeat AP2 in the Fall with Chem 1 and College Algebra.
Think it all depends on what you can handle. Life science classes seems to be more book and memorization of info. Physics and Chem has a lot more hands on work, which helps I think retain material better.
