Soooo a month ago I was super excited about finally getting into my Sciences. This week marks the first week of classes and I must say for the first time since starting my pre-reqs in 2011 (I'll be done this Fall) I am shaking in my boots! I don't work but I do have a family and school aged kids so I have the time needed but I'm worried I won't or can't retain alllllllllll the information we need to know. I formed a study grp but my Prof isn't all that encouraging she reminds us every class that 50% of us won't make it to midterms. O_o
Have any of u taken it?
Any study tips?
Thx.

Elle,
I am in the same boat as you as far as pre-reqs being done this fall. My last classes are the killers (A&P and Micro) I have found this book to be very helpful: Barron's E-Z Anatomy and Physiology. ISBN:9780764144684 about $17.
Say you are studying the skeletal system this week, go to that chapter and read it (this book makes things simple) then begin reading your textbook. Once you get to your text, it won't seem like a foreign language because Barron's makes it easier.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
Kat
Thx so much Kat!!! :-)

well...I have my classes in the morning. I get up and work out early for myself...I get one on the bus at 5:30 and then I go home and eat breakfast...get the second and third kid out the door. Mostly I grab my books and go straight to school...and I got there this week about 35 min. early each day. So I studied on my own. Just sat at a picnic table and copied important stuff over.
After class, I had enough time to get home and study about an hour or two...depending on the day...Then I start my process of picking up kids. I pick up two and then I can sit and work for about another hour while they work on their homework. It hasnt been too bad. I tell them to start on their own and if they need help I will help after Im done. Then I go pick up my other child at about 445 and I cook dinner and have wine That is the benefit of being a mom in college.
I usually stop studying and hang out with my kids the rest of the night. Once they are in bed you can study or go to bed.
Im taking Chemistry and Ant. 1 ...I pre read up to chap. 3. My teacher uses powerpoints with the most important info so I have those printed to follow along and it has really helped. I also play some games while Im sitting around on the phone like speed anatomy and online at getbodysmart That is great to have for memorizing and learning functions.
As far as the house...Im not too worried about a little dirt or mess. I do my best and Im starting to assign jobs to everyone else.
You're welcome! I can't believe how much I like this book. It's Saturday at 1:46pm and rather than out shopping, I am home reading... lol! I also bought a sparkchart. $4.95 its a folding chart on everything that you can keep in your binder for a handy reference
Mchel210 u have quite a schedule! Ur post really helped me! Everday I'm reminding myself that I can do it. I guess the amount of info and my prof constantly reminding us of the success rate of her class can really be intimidating.
This is by far the most difficult class I've ever taken and I have two more that promise to be more difficult but I want my BSN more than anything so I'm gonna make it do what it do and get busy! Thank y'all again!
