Is anyone a member of the Arizona Nurses Association? If you are how has it benefited? And, does anyone think as nurses we need liability insurrance?

No, not a member of the ANA. Yes, you most definitely need malpractice insurance.
what's an insurance company you use?

At the risk of getting flamed...
Yes, I am a member of the ANA. No, I will not renew my membership. Several reasons. First, I find that most active members are either hospital management or academic nurses. The bedside nursing presence is woefully underrepresented. Sure some people may say "change the system from within," but I am just not motivated to get that involved. I am particularly worried that some of the most active people in the organization occupy senior management positions in some of the Valley's largest hospital organizations. Yes, they are RN(s) - but who are they really representing?
I have mal-practice insurance through NSO. You need it less for the liability and more for the protection in case you are ever brought in front of the board of nursing. Chances are much greater that you will need legal assistance (which NSO covers) than financial backing in the event of an incident at work.
Thanks for your reply. I've looked at NSO's website and book marked it. It seems to me that nursing is a cut throat world. No one backs up nurses. I will definately get some insurance but won't be joining the ANA any time soon.
