I know there may not be very much of us, but I have been approached by few US-trained nurses in Aussie about starting a forum that can be shared with Aussie-trained Aussies. I don't know what you guys think about it,but we can give it a go. i am a nurse in WA and I understand we may be far off from the east coast both in distance and approach to nursing. I have not worked in the east coast, but I know comparing WA to the US, there is a lot of catching up needed. What is your take on this? Ta

I lived and worked in WA back in the 1970's and found it to be backward and uninterested in hearing about anything outside WA! The arrogance and parocialism was incredible. I found the people had a real 'chip on their shoulder' when it came to anyone from "The East", trying to enlighten or help educate them. With attitudes such as that, little wonder it's needing to catch up with the rest of the world! And, those attitudes are the very reason I no longer live there!

You are very true that sand groppers are hard to convince that they are as backwards as ever. Some are changing their views, I reckon, but some are very entrenched in their old ways that it is almost impossible to convince them otherwise. I am a Clinical Nurse and left my old job because the CNS has no clue as to what innovation and Evidence-based practice is. I told her that in the USA, she probably will not be made a CN. It is backwards but we are making a head-way in convincing rather than confusing West-Aussies that they need to buckle up or will be left behind by the train of development and advancement. Good point you have raised indeed. I agree

with you.
