There are very few and limited nursing jobs here in iwakuni. My husband and I just got here in July and I searched up and down for a nursing job but no luck. I have ADN and trying to do online school for BSN. I was turned down for the 2 open nursing jobs, saying i did not meet their quals. We also cannot work at the base clinic because we are civilian and not in the navy. call your state board of nursing and ask about working out in town, i wouldnt recommend it but thats just me, my state said it would be alot of red tape to get through to work out in town

Hello,
I have been researching the heck out of this, and have been unsuccessful with finding out any information. My husband is a Marine and we just got orders to Iwakuni, Japan for April 2013. I have searched both USAJobs, and the Department of the Navy website for the medical facility there and I haven't seen any job listings for RNs. What I am wondering is, while I realize there may just be no job postings available now for civilian RNs, but do they every use civilian RNs at the American facilities there? or will this be something I will NEVER be able to do?
I am just wondering if it's possible to work on base as an American RN in Iwakuni? Also, what's the likelihood of me ever obtaining such a position.
Thank You. Any information is appreciated as it will help us decide if I will stay in American while he goes ahead.
