    Thank you so much for this thorough post and helpful responses! I'm new grad, and recently moved to Japan to be with my husband. School nurse sub seems like my only option for employment on a military base.

    Oh but if you can read and write in Japanese, you will not have any trouble finding a nursing job off base

    I came to Yokota several months ago and still on the search for a nursing job (I have a BSN). Civilian nursing jobs at this hospital is very rare, unless you're 40 years old with 20 years experience. American Red Cross takes volunteer nurses. I'm sure it's not too different in Iwakuni.
