American River College ADN Spring 2020

Published

Hi, everyone! Today (9/3/19) is the first day applications can be sent in at ARC in Los Rios Colleges for Spring 2020. I haven't seen a thread for it yet and thought I'd start one as I just turned in my online application. Good luck to everyone!

I submitted the online portion but am still waiting for my HS transcripts. I will be moving to Folsom from SoCal so this is my first time applying. Also, I will be mailing in my application. I read in last years thread that you can see what # you are on a list?

75 points. this lottery business is rough

I'm just starting my application. I wonder why ARC admits solely based on a lottery system of qualified ( >= 70 points) applicants.

I moved from SoCal to this area last summer! This is my second time applying for ARC. When you turn in the application in person, they will have you write your name on a list next to the next available number on it, then have you write that number on your envelope. I turned mine in the first day this round around 4:30 PM and was #8. From what I’ve heard, the fall application gets many more applicants than in spring. When I applied in spring, I did it the second to last day and was #283.

Edit: Just remembered the part about mailing it in! If you mail it in I don’t know if you’d be aware of what number you’d get assigned. Once delivered, you could always send an email and ask what number you are!

No idea. Sac City and Sierra College do the same thing. It can be a great thing or an awful thing as you could technically never get chosen. Idk if there are any other details to their lottery that they don’t tell us about that though. Like do they ever take into consideration how many times you’ve applied, like theoretically putting your name in more times? All we can do is apply and hope the odds fall in our favor eventually. Crazy to me how some people, like the spring apps earlier this year, get so lucky to get chosen in the lotteries at multiple schools at the same time! What luck! Lol

That’s true. If it was strictly off points I don’t think I’d make it- only have 75. so I guess that can be a good thing. I read last year some people got in on first try and others hadn’t after several attempts. How stressful

My application was finally updated to application received yesterday evening!

I’m having trouble with the application with putting all the different colleges I’ve been to and it doesn’t list the grades as A, B, C.... and then when I go back after inputting it says there are still prerequisites missing as if It didn’t save. I emailed the program but they haven’t emailed back. anybody else have this problem?

That’s odd. Did you use the powerpoint as a guide with how to fill in the info already?

If they are transfer credits they will list grades as TA, TB, TC

Hey guys! Just put my application in today. I was number 147. I applied to the school many many years ago and got discouraged. So I met the new requirements and have my fingers crossed. Does anyone know how many seats are available? I’ve read on past threads it was 40? Also, ARC does a twice yearly application but SCC does once a year, is that right?

I’m also curious if returning applicants have a better chance. It used to be that way before they implemented the point system, but now, I think everyone has the same chance each time.

If you’re chosen as an alternate, but don’t get in, that doesn’t help you in future semesters, does it? Thanks for any insight you guys have. Deep breaths! Fingers crossed!! Good luck guys.

Hey all!

First time applying to ARC. I have 80 points, not that it matters. Just turned in my application today and I was #160, but there’s still 7 business days left in the cycle not counting those that mailed theirs I think? Anyways, I also applied to Delta and Samuel Merritt and will apply to Sierra and SCC when the app opens in February. Good luck to all the applicants ?
