Any pros or cons about this company.
Thanks
I worked for Amedisys for 3 years and just recently started another job. I am so thankful that I am not there anymore. I was seeing 10-12 patients at least 3 days a week and the other days it was 8-9. I would sit and do paperwork for 4 hours at night then get to the office at 6:00 every morning to get it finished. It had to be turned in by 10:00 every morning. I felt like I had to answer the oasis questions so that the patients would have a higher score so we would get paid more. I stayed stressed out all the time. I quit this job and went to a Med Surg floor working 3 12 hour night shifts a week and I couldnt be happier or more relieved.
Just posted this in another thread, but really belongs here I think.

I have read this story before, as well as this link..http://www.citronresearch.com/index.php/2008/08/12/seeking-healthy-returns-in-amedisys-nasdaqamed.
I can say that I have felt pressure to change my oasis answers to reflect a different score. I have received requests to look at my answers and to " think about them in a different way" but I feel that I was the one that was in the patient home, it's my answer and I'm not changing it. It's always been wrapped in "what about this" or "do you feel that this patient can safely do this if you picked this answer" so I can see how someone without many years could question themselves.
Home health has always been about the wording. Word it one way, not billable. The other way--passes. There is a fine line and it's hard to stay on this side of it so I can see where newer nurses could wobble all over the line unintentionally.

DONT DO IT!!!
Our company just got bought out by them in Maryland. Every change except for computer charting has been negative..........
They will nickle and dime you for everything- We went pay for visit(because the census has been low for months), got a pay cut from what we were making before, cut our mileage, Amedisys can cut your benefits if you dont meet productivity, and they MICROMANAGE EVERYTHING!! They just seem to take away any autonomy you have, such as if there is a missed visit, -- it cant just be a missed visit because the patient refused---- IT HAS TO BE APPROVED first by your patient care coordinator!! The list goes on and on......
