Hello everyone,
I am looking for advice on whether or not I am ready for the NCLEX-RN! I have terrible anxiety, always have a fear of failing. I just want it all to be over with- except of course I'm terrified to take the NCLEX.
Here's my case: I graduated in the top 5 of my class, summa cum laude, ATI predictor scores of 99%, I recently signed up for Kaplan- I took the readiness right away because I am two weeks out of my NCLEX date and got a 71% but then I did Q1 (61%), Q4 (65%), Q5 (63%), NCLEX Sample 1 (54%). I am still working on other question trainers and qbanks, etc. I feel like the more questions I do I am getting worse!
I am scheduled to take my NCLEX June 6th and almost want to reschedule it sooner because I am so anxious about studying that I just want it to be over but I also don't want to fail. What do you all think?
Thank you in advance!

I was originally scheduled to take my test 6/1 but moved it up to tomorrow. I did U World and it says I'm ready but I don't think I will ever feel ready much like you. Why I know I have to take it now is because I am so sick of studying and answering questions, I am getting nowhere. I studied from the end of April until yesterday, a few hours to multiple hours a day, and I just can't anymore which is why I scheduled. I would either move it up or give your brain a break. Yesterday I was getting questions wrong that I knew the material for because I was just wanting to rush through it and stop looking at a computer screen. So today I am not studying at all.
I just switched to Uworld because I didn't feel Kaplans rationales were helping me. On assessment 1 on got 56% which says a high chance of passing. I wish I got very high but in my defense I took this assessment after doing questions all day and after a minor mental breakdown about having to take the NCLEX! LOL.
I feel the same way, the more questions I do I get them wrong when I know I knew it! I am always between two answers and more often then not I was right the first time and then switch so I have to practice not doing that!
I am spending today reviewing some things I don't remember (specific isolation precautions, growth and development, cardiac rhythms, etc). It's so hard I don't know what to study! I am trying to stay positive and everyone around me has faith in me but I really feel like I will fail- with my luck the girl who graduated top 5 in her class will fail the NCLEX!
Good luck tomorrow! Thank you for sharing!!

With the NCLEX, it is not a test that can be mastered through rote memorization of facts. Know your material, but don't get into which NSAID has the longest half life that's divisible by 4. Know the basic foundation (classes of drugs, indications, contraindications, safety issues, what to do if your patient's monitor looks like a mountain range and there's no pulse, etc.). It's a test that focuses on application of what you know. You did well in school, so you obviously know the material.
Are you taking the Kaplan course or just the online questions?
Also keep in mind that over 80% of first time US educated test takers pass on the first take. Those that don't pass largely don't know the material, or get psyched out and freeze during the test.

I took the Kaplan live review right after graduation, took a couple days off, and then started the rest of the course (question trainers). I didn't feel like it was helping me at all. So I switched to Uworld. I just finished the Assessment #2 and got very high chance of passing (96th percentile). My average for the Qbank having done about 1,095 questions is 70.8% (95th rank). I've been reading the rationales (which are awesome); writing down important things; and reading my ATI comprehensive book and my old notes (Yup, I saved them all!). I don't think I'll ever feel ready but I NEED nursing school to be over!

I just took the NCLEX today! I had very similar scores as you but I got 87 questions on the test! I am soooo nervous! I don't feel confident at all. How did yours go?!? I'm hoping I can get results early ...
