Am I Crazy Changing Career At 33

Hello folks,

I,m a young man of 33 and will be obtaining my degree(first) by May 09. Though my degree in Geology and don;t know what i will do with it other than picking rocks or end up in oil company( still rocks and other specimens). I,m thinking about going into nursing for my BSN as a second degree and later going for my CRNA. I have been having sleepless about what i,m thinking about doing at my age. I,m not married but will be soonest. I don;t know if i,m about making the right choice or i,m crazy. Please anybody with this experience should chip in something as i appreciate it all. Again, do anybody know any NCLEX bootcamp or any good book to prepare for the Nclex exams.

Crazy? Not at all! I'm over 50 (I'll leave it at that) and am considering going back to EC after 20+ years in respiratory therapy because the healthcare field is often very nurse-oriented and the RN designation will open a lot of doors. Just know what you are getting into. I teach student nurses computer charting every few months and sometimes never see a few of them again after a month or two because they realize that the working conditions are not always optimal--off hours, high work load and then there's the fluids and exposure to disease. On the other hand, if you feel comfortable--go for it! My wife became an RN at 30 and it was the most rewarding job she ever had.

This is really really good...i thought i was crazy. I will definitely go for it as this help me and my family in future. Thanks for all that contributed to this topic. Next, i would have started a new thread on this question. Please has anyone been to Shannadoah University in Leesburg va and, able to compare their school with GMU nursing school for Accelerated second degree in Nursing.Right now i,m taking my preleli for the BSN accelerated Program and in Northern VA ...looking out for a great Nursing school. Please anyone familiar, let me know.
