I got into nursing because I felt that way at my old job... am now blessed with four days off a week, and I relish them. But I also never spend a vacation week at home, always go somewhere. Usually Florida because it's cheap (my mom has a house in Sarasota). Do you work 5 days a week? I think I would feel that way if I did... but my 12's keep me sane, because I work 2 hectic days, and then have at least a day or two to recover!!
If you can afford to go away on vacation, then go for it! I don't think wanting to get away is weird at all -- it's nice to get out of your regular environment. I find when I take a "stay-cation" I feel guilty -- not about work, but about not spending more time cleaning my perpetually messy apartment. If I go away somewhere, that's not an issue.
Take your vacations, and don't feel guilty -- enjoy!

I work full time as a GMF RN and often feel like I spend more time at work than at home. I've used vacation days, personal days, and holidays tactfully so that I get several weeks off this yr. I know I'm very blessed to have acquired so much time off.
I've already gone on vacation twice this year and am tempted to plan another vaca for this next week off that I have coming up. It almost seems like the only way for me to escape work is to go away... far away. Anyone else experience feeling this way? If I go away on vacation, I feel guilty. But if I stay in the area, all I do is think about work. Gahhh...
