Hi nursejai! I did. I doubt I'll make it in, but I thought it couldn't hurt to try. We don't have much longer to wait, thank goodness. :)

I applied for fall 2016 as well. The wait is killing me, I spoke to Karen yesterday and she said they will start sending out the emails in the middle of this month.

I applied as well. Anyone apply anywhere else?
No, I only went for ACC because of time and money. Did you?
I applied to BC as well. Did you take your prerequisites at ACC?
Yes. I'm a teacher, but last year wound up hurt after a fall. I had just moved to the ACC district so that's where I picked, but initially it was going to be San Jac. I should probably have applied elsewhere, lol. Ahh well. We should hear something this week I hope.
Wow! Small world. I'm a teacher as well. We'll, I'm certified anyway. I'm currently a stay at home mom. I graduated Stephen F Austin State University in 2010. Crazy that we ate both former educators. I sure hope we hear this week. I'm super stressed about it.
You know it's funny - ever since I decided to go back for nursing I've met a few former teachers turned nurses.. seems popular to make the change. I was teaching in Pearland last year when I fell and tore up my left knee, so I've been at home too. :) I I graduated from WGU for both my M.Ed and BA. If you don't mind, what made you decide to switch?
That's awesome! With a masters, your sure to get in at Alvin!!! I can't wait to hear, have you called up or anything?
I'm sorry about your knee injury. I hope you're well now!
I don't think my heart was ever into teaching. I got my degree, because it's what you did. I graduated high school, went to SFA (because all my cousins had gone there), and they're known for teaching, so I went for it. When it came to student teaching, I didn't feel the connection there.
2 years ago I had a premature baby. I spent at least 12 hours a day at the hospital for 9 weeks. I saw the heart and dedication, the love and passion the nurses had. Once they let me do more for my baby, I knew that's where I needed to be. I've been volunteering at the hospital while redoing my sciences since they were over 5 years old.
It's where my heart is. I need to do it. It's now my passion.
What made you switch?
I haven't called or anything - I'm too scared to hear I didn't make it in.. as hard as it is to wait, at least I don't have a rejection right now, lol. My flawed logic.
Are you looking to be a NICU nurse?? I had a few weeks in with my youngest and had my fair share of bad and good ones, so if that's where you're headed, KUDOS TO YOU!! I couldn't do the little ones. Was that at TCH?
I'm like you - my mom and my sister were both teachers so I figured hey that's what I'll do too. Throw in a few kids and it was like I definitely need to do it because you can't beat the schedule...but it was always nursing I wanted. In 2014, my then-10 year old was gifted a brand new heart and it has been an amazingly awesome (and scary) ride. Our transplant coordinator is our hero, and honestly, I want to do that. I want to be the one calling people with offers at a life saving organ. That's why I finally decided to just do it. I sure hope you and I are in together, it sounds like we have had a similar path :)
That is incredible. Such a major blessing for your son. I can't imagine how you felt through it all, but it will surly make you an amazing nurse. My sister in law works for life-gift...hearing her stories are so heartfelt. I'm so happy your son was given a new heart. Such a blessing.
I would love to be a NICU nurse. I'm such great friends with her nurses. We were at Woman's Hospital of Texas. They were truly amazing. We only had one bad experience with a nurse, but we had been there a while already, so I knew how to handle it.
It would be awesome for us to get in together. Seems we both have the heart & passion to do well.
I wonder how many applicants they had this semester. I'm surprised there isn't more of us on here.
