alternative to surgical sticky drape in OR?

Published

Question for surgical nurses about drape adhesive, hoping your answers will help me and others!

So I had a c-section and I had a severe skin reaction with hives all throughout my entire belly, super itchy, with hives, and all that. I figured it was from the sticky glue thing on the drape they put on.  I'm expecting another surgery, what is an alternative to the blue sticky drape they put on during the prep? I know it is now the yellow/orange looking cleaner they put on - I shouldn't worry about that as I had that on my belly and my upper thighs and my upper thighs were fine. Please help!

Hey, were you able to find any help on this? My wife experienced the same thing and has a surgery coming in February. Definitely defined lines. We think it's the chloroprep or the sticky drape. Her records from last surgery a box is checked that the chloro prep dried completely and a rash shouldn't occur. Regardless it was a terrible experience.

Hello, @Chase Priest, per our Terms of Service, we do not allow providing or requesting medical advice. Please work with your wife's care team in how to proceed with her care. Best wishes.
