Hey, I'm looking into nursing school in either of these areas. I'm originally from Nebraska, but my family has been living with my parents for a year in CA (I know ya'll up there aren't fond of CA'ians, but I'm not really from there) while DH goes to school. I won't be done with pre-reqs for another year or so, but DH is looking to that area for employment as a nat resources, wildlife management so that's where we'd like to go.

I am currently a stay-at-home mom/student. We decided from the outset not to put our kids in daycare (no reflection on those who do, just that we made that decision) so I'm looking for a night school or weekend school that can accomodate that.

Can someone point me to any resources?

Chemeketa in Salem, OR does do a night/weekend two-year nursing program. The next class is due to start Fall 2009. Check out their website www.chemeketa.edu and follow the McMinnville Campus application info. Their first class just graduated this June and from what I hear it was successful and the students enjoyed the night/weekend class structure.

Good luck.

i am an ohioan transplanted to california for some time. while i'll always love ohio, i love california just as much. you should be proud to be a californian. california has been in trendsetter in many things and i don't mean negative stuff! at the time i went to nursing school and took my state board out here, california had the most rigorous and highest requirements for rn licensure in the country along with the state of new york. we have a state disability program for all workers that only 3 other states even come close to and the other 46 don't even have! so, i don't know what oregon and washington have to scoff at.

here are your resources. . .the approved schools of nursing are listed on the state board websites. you merely have to contact the individual schools in the area where you will be living to find out if they have a night or weekend classes that can accommodate you. good luck.

I go to nursing school in Oregon and to be quite honest I'm not aware of any NS programs that have night or weekends. I know in my program I have the option of doing some night clinicals if I wanted (or could), but that's about it. Although, there are some night labs, but not lectures. I have friends that go to Mt. Hood and Clackamas's programs and it's a no go there too.

Good luck to you!

ps: PCC does have a day-care that is on site.....maybe that could be an option????
