  1. Sorry for the delayed response.... As far as the books, ya you need to get all of them but the good thing is they are good for both years. The NUR 106A class is your skills applications class which is required but the 199 Strategies for Success class is optional. I did take both but if time and money is an issue, you could get away without taking the Strategies class.
  2. Actually we did have one person drop for personal reasons so keep your fingers crossed. The orientation is very intimidating and shows just how involved the program is which might not work for someone....good luck.
  3. Congrats to all of you having been accepted for fall term. :yeah:I totally understand what your feeling, anxiety level, nervousness, frustrated about the unknown, etc. I've survived and you will too. I'm getting ready to start my 2nd year at CCC so if anyone has any questions regarding the program, books, supplies, etc...I'd be happy to provide any information I can to help you. Lori Albright, LPN :stdnrsrck:
  4. There are 40+ locations in Oregon that offer the Certified Nursing Assistant training such as community colleges, nursing homes, hospitals.... Check out www.osbn.state.or.us and check out the CNA section. Like the previous poster said, CNA=CNA it doesn't matter where you get your training...it is the Board of Nursing who issues your certification. Good luck in your endeavors.
  5. Gotcha beat....try chocolate Brown Cherokee tops and bottoms.
  6. actually my school does require a watch with a second-hand. I've always used digital or i'm trying to find a analog-digital watch w/a second hand.
  7. CONGRATS ! zukki38. See ya at orientation.
  8. I'm so glad they are holding your spot NicoleInHisWill so you can get your immunization paperwork sorted out/turned in. I've got a couple kids who just started school too and boy am I glad that they started before I did, what caos would that be, lol. See ya at orientation !!!! Sarah123456, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you getting in...good luck.
  9. Having been an EMT-I for 12 years and a nursing student (in a few weeks), I would think that your EMT-B is quite a step down skills-wise from your ADN? Your so close to your ADN, I would focus on that. I would think that the ADN would stand out far more than your EMT-B certification. The work experience is what will stand out on a resume and also could provide you with references for future positions. As far as taking your EMT-B online....not a problem. And if you can challenge the course, can't hurt to try. We don't have the option in my state. I took my EMT-I via telecourse with practicals on the weekends at a nearby fire department. Best of luck whichever route you choose....
  10. The pulse at Target is $149 for 1GB and 199 for 2GB
  11. Did everyone get registered in time? It looks like a few didn't register in time so some of the alternates might get a spot after all. Keeping my fingers crossed for the alternates. Any first-year students on the forum ? Any second-year students want to share some advice for those of us just starting out?
  12. Even though your response wasn't for a question I posed, your reply was very informative and I will keep it on hand for when I need a care plan such as this. Thank you very much for your input.
  13. I choose to get Essentials of Pathophysiology by Porth too. It was a recommended book on our first semester book list. After reading and getting into it for about a month now, (prior to school starting) I like it. I'm using the learning objectives listed for each chapter (on the book's website) as study questions. I don't have the opportunity of taking a patho class so I'm tackling it on my own. , lol.
  14. Some community colleges offer classes for continuing education. You might want to start there....
  15. Those are amazing links. :yeah:Thank you very much for thinking of us (students), lol
