So I need some opinions.
I got got my letter stating I am an alternate for my LPN to RN program. Needless to say I'm bummed. I'm curious how many have been in the same boat?? I know that I am number 1 on the list so should I be hopeful?

Many people in my area were accepted to several different programs and declined their position at other programs. If you're number 1 on the alternate list, you certainly have a better chance than the other waitlisted people.

I got in to my nursing program as an alternate (I forget if I was 7th alternate or 10th). I had to go to orientation, get vaccinations, pay for a background check/drug test, etc. to keep my place. It was a huge financial hardship at the time- especially considering there was no guarantee I'd actually get in.
The program had about 60 spaces. Anyone who decided to go to another school, decided not to go to school at all, moved, failed a drug or background check, couldn't pay their tuition, etc. created an opening. I'd say the odds are pretty good if you're first alternate. And the more spaces they have to began with, the better your chances are.
Good Luck!
