You can call me Cedeno, and I'll be applying for the MDC nursing program for fall 2013! I've been excited for awhile now, especially since MDC (and all its red tape) has delayed my intended apply date twice (originally Fall 2012, then Spring 2013). Ah, but no worries!
Right now I'm taking my last bit of classes before applying: A&P 2 w/lab, Micro, and Critical Thinking/Ethics. I've seen many nursing students this semester-- which is wonderful-- but at the same time I think two words when I meet another pre-nursing student: "Awesome! " and "Competition! " (Not seriously, but in a jokey kind of way.)
Once admitted, I'd love to form a study group. Size isn't quite so much the priority as cohesiveness is (though size counts!). I'd love study mates who like to utilize chats like Google talk, Skype, Kik, etc. for times when perhaps we'd like to study something but cannot make it to a physical location.
I'm a visual and auditory learner, so I love highlighters, dry-erase boards, and discussing questions together to ensure everyone understands rather than one person offering up the answer and others just accepting it without knowing.

....Also if you take the TEAS twice is it highest score used or last test taken?

I got accepted to Generic Part time. I work full time and have a 2 year old so it was my only option
Here is a quick run through of what is needed before orientation on July 9th.
Complete Response Form, Pay for Acceptance and turn in before 06/21- $100
Schedule fingerprints/background - $58
CPR/BLS from the AHA – Not sure the cost – Lets say $60
Complete Student Health Record – $225 (all inclusive at MDC Wellness Clinic)
-MMR & Varicela
-Physical
-Drug Screen
-TB Test – done twice

Orientation Tuesday - July 9th @ 7am – 11am - (Need to call and ask because the last page of admission info says 7am-3pm)
ATI Testing Session – July 10th (time by last name)
So I have a few questions, is this orientation on July 9th for only Generic PT? Does anyone else have the same orientation date? Can I postpone my orientation? How much is a BLS at Miami Dade? Can I get my BLS on a weekend? And what would be our first day of school?

We can chat on the FB page. I am in generic FT and I have a different orientation date. You can pull up the first day of school by looking at the classes on MDC's website (go there as if you are registering for classes). It is sometime in late August. I don't think you can postpone orientation. You can take the BLS class through MDC ($79) on a weekend - register for HRF004 (I will be going next Sunday at Homestead campus). Yes, it is a lot to do. I am in the same boat trying to get it all done around my work schedule!
Just paid the deposit for the pt program I've declined my ft seat so that's another possible spot for someone. I went to the school wellness clinic for the physical, drug test, and tb. They are moving quickly but a lot of people are going in so if you are planning to go there just be prepared for a line.

Hi!!! , do they told you how long it would take to get your lab results for the drug panel and the titers? Also, the 2nd time PPD is another shot or just the measurement of the reaction after the shot? Do you need to do the blood test or you can just bring a document that has the proof of your titers? Thanks

The lab results take about a week.
The 2nd time PPD is a repeat of the 1st test and again has to be read 3 days later
I think you make copies of the titers if you have them done already but they have to be actual titers and not just proof of immunizations (call to be sure though)
The drug screen- The results are immediate. They read the results and put the results in a sealed envelope that you get right away

To all those still waiting, I stopped by Miami Dade yesterday and was told that the director is out until next week. When she returns the next set of emails will go out (not sure if this may be the last ) but be encouraged its not over yet. Have faith, until then keep busy and pray lol :)
