Almost Graduate: NCLEX

Nurses General Nursing

Hey everyone. I am in my last semester of the nursing program and I graduate in May. I

am so thrilled that I am almost done, but I am a little nervous about the NCLEX-RN exam. If anyone has any advice it would be much obliged and I would appreciate it so much. So I also want to know that when you graduate with your degree, do you get a temporary license and can work as an RN while you are studying for the NCLEX or if you have to pass the

NCLEX before you can even think about working as an RN. I have a friend that was in the

LPN program and when she graduated she had a temporary license. I was just wondering if

it was the same for the RN or a completely different set of circumstances. Thank you for all who will apply.

No temp license. Many places will hire with the caveat that you will have tested and passed by the time you start.

In some States you can apply for an interim permit; it will expire either when you take the NCLEX or on a pre-specified date, whichever comes first. If you pass NCLEX, you get a license. If you don't, you lose the ability to work as a graduate without a license.

Some places will hire provisionally, as the PP said. Others won't look at you until after your license is available.

Good luck!
