I just attended the Bristol Community College health sciences information session for the second year last week. I thought I would share some of the information for those on this forum or on the web looking to get into this school for nursing. I hope this helps and answers a lot of questions.
NEW this year:
MINIMUM requirements to be completed before applying (NO EXCEPTIONS. Seriously, you must have these to even apply)
Keep in mind the above is only the minimum to apply. Now the good stuff.
To be COMPETITIVE you must:
Complete all 10 general education courses listed in the handbook which includes:
Note: If you are still in high school, please do not think you can just apply and get in only taking the high school coursework. You must complete the college coursework as well before applying. There were many high school students in the session and there are no if, and's or but's about it. You must complete all the min. requirements before applying. I do not mean to be harsh but I would hate for you to work so hard and find out that you have to take these classes and not get in when you planned on it. I would suggest taking the college courses in your junior year on weekends or during the summer, so by the time you graduate high school you will be all set to start, if you get in.
FACTS:
Just a tip. Always be on top of everything with this school they are notorious for losing important documents and information as well as not informing students of changes.
I have been working towards this for the past 3 years and it has happened many, many times. I have completed all coursework with a 4.0 and am applying for Fall 2009. All of this, however, does NOT guarantee me admission. I will never give up my dream of becoming a nurse, I will only work harder.
I hope all of this helps. If I can try to answer any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Hey Jenn, Good luck on your journey! I was there more than 3 years ago and it seemed like a long way but I made it. Just waiting to hear if I got accepted now.
