I am graduating with my BSN in 10 days. I have had many, many nurses as preceptors in my clinical experiences. I know we see so many complaints about preceptors/instructors on this site, and I wanted to share that I have had the complete opposite experience. I have had 99% awesome, knowledgeable, kind and helpful nurses in my rotations. I can only recall one nurse that was nasty to me.
So, I wanted to say thank you! I know we students make your job 100x harder and it is often easier to do it yourself. I appreciate all the words of wisdom, patience, constructive criticism, respect, knowledge and hand holding that I have received. Nursing is a wonderful profession and I am honored to be entering it! Thanks again!

Thanks to the OP for this post
I also want to thank my OB clinical instructor who chewed me out in front of other nurses n told me I was the "weakest" student in her class. I cried all day asking God for strength. I came back to clinicals the next week more assertive than ever, wanting to try out new skills and get my hands "dirty" by any means. I have learned a whole lot from this experience. Today, as i prepare to graduate from nursing school next month, i am assertive, inquisitive and outspoken because on that fateful day, she called me out.
So Thank You Mrs. T. for giving me that reality check.
Although sometimes preceptors and nurses are "nasty" or mean to you (the student) never let it bring you down. I made it this far and i aint going nowhere

Gigi01: Perhaps Mrs. T did what she did to turn you into the nurse you are today. Sometimes it takes a "chewing" to realize what we're missing. It has worked for me in the past.

What a great post topic!
I also had a preceptor that was fantastic. At the end of the semester I took the time to write a letter to the administration about how amazing and fantastic she was during the semester. She will now be receiving an award based on this letter and this will go into her permanent file. I encourage everyone that has had a wonderful precepting experience to take the time and recognize that nurse or group of nurses.
