All FSCJ Spring 2013 Hopefuls

Published

Hi everyone! I decided to start this thread in hopes of seeing if there is anyone excited about applying to the fscj RN program spring 2013. I am currently taking a microbiology class this summer. I would have applied for fall 2012 but met with some technical difficulties. I have 206 in total points w/o micro. Let's stay in touch and keep this ball rolling!

thank you. i will be visiting their office to find out more info. i just learned from reading the 2011 posts that they do cover uniforms and skills kit. :w00t:

Does anyone know how this "out of county" policy works? How many out of county students do they accept every semester?

@mandasue i have no idea. i wish i could be of assistance to you.

Hey guys, i was reading through several threads on here, and if you dont know already, it will be very diffcult for us to get a job as a new RN grad for those of us who wont have any experience at the time. I was trying to think about how i can graduate with experience, because the clinicals we complete in the nursing program does not count. Many new grads has the problem of employers not giving them the chance to gain experience by hiring them, so they are stressing out. I was looking into volunteering at hospitals before i try to find a job as a new grad. i want to work in the intensive care unit, so i looked for volunteer work that allows me to work wth babies. Luckily, shands has a position called "infant cuddler" where you get to work with babies in the ICU. Volunteers assist in feeding, rocking, comforting, and changing the babies. Im not sure when i should start volunteering though. Should i wait until after i graduate from nursing school (so it doesnt interfere with school/clinicals) or would it be best to start asap? what do yall thiink?

Does anyone want to share what position they look forward to having as an RN? what setting would you like to work in? I was thinking about maybe starting off in labor and delivery and then maybe work my way up to the ICU, if i cant get in right away.

Hello Everyone, I'm also applying for Spring2013 with the hopes of getting the nights and weekends. I have to retake the NAT and plan to do so in August, I was so nervous my first time and totally bombed it, but now that I know what to expect, I'm sure to do much better. Any tips on preparing? Good Luck to you all:-)

Beatrice91 I also want to work in L&D please email me @ [email protected] with the info about Shands and the "infant cuddler" , I'd loveeeeee to do that. I wonder if we have to finish the program first...

can someome tell me how i start my own thread please?

hello everyone,

this is my first post on the blog, but i have read it numerous times since 2-3 years ago:)

in August i will finally be able to apply at fscj nursing program. so far i have about 200 point but i am missing the humanities class. Hopefully i get in! good luck to all the aplicants!!!! super excited for august to come . Btw, when will we know if we got accepted?

HI nutidamsa, thats great!! good luck to you too. you will be contacted 6-8 weeks after the deadline. if you are excepted (which you should be with 200 :D) they will email you early and then you will get the acceptance letter in the mail.

Hello Everyone,

I'm also one of the 2013 hopefulls. Getting excited, nervous, anxious, and any other descriptive word you can think of. If not obvious , I'am currently an LPN and only have microbiology remaining for which I'am already enrolled for in the fall. I will make application to the program next month. With micro included, I have 104 points for prereq's, 20 points for being an LPN - so unless I bomb the PSB-NAT test, I hope to have above 200 points. I would not put it past me to bomb, I can have intermittent test anxiety, which I have read on these blogs happens more often than I would have ever thought.

Best of luck to everyone! Feels like we are all on the cusp of something great together!

Wow that sounds awesome. I also want to work on the L&D floor, but I hear it is very hard to get there bc that is where everyone wants to be. My cousin is the director of Nurses at the Baptist hospitals and said either someone has to leave or die to get there. But I believe if you want it bad enough anything is possible!
