I'm interested in the Bham hospitals (namely UAB & StV), if you work there & you had loans, do they pay them? How does this work?

Thanks!

Specializes in ICU/CCU/MICU/SICU/CTICU.

Hi there!

I can only answer about UAB......... if you are a full time employee and have been there 6 months you can take one class each semester for free........after you have been employed for a year..then your spouse can take one class per semester.......and your dependents can go to UAB for 1/2 tuition.

There is no requirement to pay it back, nor do you have to work for X amount of months for it.........it is a free benefit that they give employees.

They have a wonderful benefits package for the employees!

Specializes in ICU, Mother/Baby.

I know you said St. Vincents or UAB but thought I would tell ya about Brookwood. They just came to our class and did orientation for us. They did tell us that they repay back fedreal student loans. Its put into your pay check. I bet most of the hospitals are doing this to be like everyone else. You can always call their HR dept or maybe look online.

Hi there, welcome to Alabama nursing. Here's a bit of advice as well, whichever hospital you choose, they are ALL offering referral bonuses. So when you decide, find a nurse from these boards who works there, give his or her name as a referral, and split the $$$!!!

Good luck!
