If I can ever help yall out in any way please let me know! I will be starting my 4th semester this fall. Time flys by so study hard and have fun!

Hey Stefanie,

It is so nice to hear for somebody who is already in the prgram at Shelby campus :D

Since you've asked ...I do have a of question about clinicals in the first semester.

1. What time do you have to be at the clinical place?

I know we'll be having clinicals Thursdays and Fridays. The reason, I'm asking is that I have three kids, and I will have to plan ahead.

Thanks in advance,

Adriana

I too have three children so I know exactly how it is with planning. Unfortunately they dont like to give alot of notice. That's why I offer to help people.

The first semester you only have clinicals one day a week. They will assign you either Thrusday or Friday but not both days. My first semester we did not start till November doing clinicals. You have to validated on many different things before you can go to clinicals. Examples are injections, blood pressure, and head to toe examie and all 12 crainial nerves names and how to check them.

I am always on the floor by 6:30 am a few instructors started at 6:45 and you are usually done around 1:00. FYI there are no lunch breaks. Starting in second semester you will go to the hospital the day before clinicals to get your pt. usually after class. So that will be a long day. I think we did 3 weeks of that and went two days back to back clinicals. So pre clinical was wed after class then Thrus and Fri clinical for 3 weeks. Mother baby class has been changed since when I went so I think there are more clinicals now. Lucky you! I loved those. I only got to do 3 . 3rd sem. we still do pre clinical but one 1 full clinical day per week. I have 5 weeks of those and 2 psych and one of the psych clinicals will be on a Sat. 4th semester you go to two days a week clinical. Not sure how many rotations but you will have some at children's and they are from 3-11 at night. I can fill you in more next semester when Im doing them. I have heard from my friend about them.

Ok so I talked your ear off on clinicals. Sorry! This should give you some idea of what clinicals will be like. Fell free to message me any time!

I got accepted also at JSCC on the Shelby Campus for RN full time. My name is Autumn, and I am 20 years old. The only downside is JSCC is 55 miles one way from my home!

Hey Stefanie,

Thanks so much for all the info about clinicals...the more I know the better prepare I'll be. I've heard the worst stories about nursing school...I'm just trying to stay positive, and take one day at the time.

Again thanks for everything..I'm sure I will have more questions in days ahead.

Adriana

Hey Autumn,

Congrats on you acceptance letter...living 55 miles from school it is a downside...just look at the bright site..you got in :D

Hopefully, I will see you at the orientation.

Adriana

I also got in for the full time Shelby campus RN program, but I will be sending a denial letter tomorrow. I was also accepted in the CACC program that is 10 miles from my home so I will be going there. Little nervous about going to CACC I just hope this decision doesn't come back to bit me. But anyway I know my spot will make some other persons day. Congrats to everyone!

I live closer to CACC in Childersburg that JSCC (Shelby). I did not get into CACC (RN). I have applied there for 3 semesters I believe. I just sometimes wonder why I can get in other places but not at CACC. I currently go to school there, just be warned they do lose things as other post have said. Make sure you make copies of everything you give them!

Same with JSCC-- And the lack of information kills me. But I attended JSCC as a psych major a few years back, so at least I know what to expect. I HATE the lack of communication with the student loans, but..

Hello All!!

My name is Shea and I am fulltime at Shelby as well. I am 37 (yikes!) and have 3 children. I'm looking forward to getting started but a little nervous as well. I'm looking forward to meeting you all! See you next Wednesday!

Hi everyone! I'm starting my prerequisites this fall and applying to the nursing program Fall of 2009. I have a question. Does the part time program have nursing classes at night/weekends? I'm not sure how I will be able to work a day job and go to school. I also have a 5 month old.

Thanks in advance for your help and congrats to everyone. I look forward to seeing you.
