Number one: english IELTS 7 in all bands sent with your application and Australia at this time is/was/will not be for much longer, ....the only country that considers giving visa to work for nurses. There are literally hundreds of applications delivered everyday to every AHPRA office, it is impossible to say how long an application will take if it is complete with the english test provided.
If you are one of those applicants that applied before september 17?without english in IELTS but claim to be good enough to look after Australians with an english secondary and university standard of country that is english second language and have never actually had any clinical experience nursing in english only language.....you will find it difficult to get a bridging course and you will not be able to apply for a employer sponsorship visa due to IELTS 7 being the standard for nurses entering this country.
hi ceridwyn,
i am from nepal. i have completed my 3 yrs nursing course in english language though english isnt our first language.i've given the ielts test and ve scored as follows, listening-7.5,writing- 7 , speaking- 7.5 ,reading- 7 that makes 7.5 in total.
i am working in my own country since last 18-20 months.i came to know about IRON program so was willing to do that.for that i need ahpra registration so i started sending my documents since september to melbourne's office. now its been 4 months..yet i see no signs from ahpra.
went through different forums..where ahpra registration problems were discussed...after reading them..what i understood that the nurses from australia themselves were facing this problem i.e. taking too much time for the registartion..what they did was..went to the ahpra office and complained...later they got registered within few days of the visit..will it work if i make one my friends who's in melbourne to visit ahpra office and check the status of my registration ?? or is there any other ways to know my status?? do you have any idea ??if yes then please do help me
Pardon me, for surmising you did not have english requirement.
Your written english in this forum would not pass for IELTS 7 in this country. How will you be a safe RN if you cannot spell or use grammar correctly in english?
Was your application complete when you sent it in to the Melbourne office of AHPRA,?
You are seeking to have your documents assessed by AHPRA to be qualified as a Registered Nurse, you will be given a letter stating that you need to satisfy the condition of a bridging course before you will be given registration.
Assessment is taking anything from 6-8 weeks to 11 months at nearly all states AHPRA offices. As I said before, international applicants are inundating Australia with applications.
Email the AHPRA office will be the best way of enquiring about your application, local applicants will have priority and early on with AHPRA, local applicants were desperate as they had nursing jobs ready to go and I understand did attend AHPRA offices with their concern, this however, is no longer the case.
I doubt sending a friend into the office will encourage them to assess your application any faster as I believe they assess complete applications only on a first in basis.
Also we have privacy laws here, no one can enquire about another persons application or information without signed consent.
they mailed me yesterday for some additional documents..but they're asking for the same documents that i've already sent i dont understand for what.anyways, will send those requested papers then i shall wait for 1 more month for the outcome.Anyways, thanks for the informations. Are you a nurse too???

Hi, I'm new here and im having probs ith my ahpra app. they sent me an email stating that they're proposing to refuse my app. they pointed the reasons. one of the reasons: i dont have NMBA approved qualifications and they sent me a link of approved NMBA programs of study. I called them and asked if they're askin me to enroll. they said no, they're inviting me to send some more docs to like "defend" myself, state my reply to every point they made. final decision will be made on sept 14.. i already told them that ive submitted everything, im willing to take the course, etc. they said i have to put those in writing. does this mean that they wont even offer me a bridging course??
