Someone please tell me that chemistry will get easier!! I am in some desperate need of some spirit boosting. I studied my butt off and still got an F!!!! I have not been this bummed out in a long time. I thought that I did better than that. If there is someone out there that has done badly on a test and just can't seem to shake it off I would like to hear how you got over it. I feel like such a loser right now. I have even been thinking that maybe i should just drop out of school and stay home with my kids. I think that is why I feel so terrible about this, I have two young girls at home that actually get kinda "neglected" and then even with all of those hours of studying i still flunk. If anyone has any words of encouragement I could really use them right now. I just need to know that even if I fail a test I can still bounce back.

Thank you all for listening to me whine and cry about this and just being there for me.

Don't let it get you down! We all have those tests that we bomb on, but what counts in the end is how we bounce back from them. I truly think that it is possible to overstudy for a test, and have so much junk floating around in our minds the day of the test that it is impossible to focus.

My first semester of the nursing program I studied my butt off for the phys assessment test, and thought I would ace it. Then BAM, I got my grade and I had actually flunked! I was devastated, but after reviewing the test, I could see that I had made a lot of stupid mistakes, and interpreted questions the wrong way. Sometimes we just have bad test taking days.

When I took chemistry, I struggled through that course because I didn't get the math and I just wasn't interested in it. But just try to get through it, and you will move on to other classes that you (hopefully) find enjoyable.

Feel free to vent and whine anytime, it has therapeutic value!

ditto.....hang in there. it may have just been a fluke. was this the first exam? you may just be getting used to how chemistry operates and will be much more prepared for the 2nd test.

also, i have found that i can "study a subject to death". maybe you are trying to read more into it than is there?

don't give up. i know about those guilty mommy feelings too. just keep your eye on the prize and know that someday it will all be worth it.

Erin, some of the chapters were harder than others, don't give up. Do they have tutoring labs at your school? Maybe form a study group with some classmates.

There is a site online I think called chemtutor.com. Cliff Notes Chemistry book.

I'm not an expert but it you want to PM me with something specific that you will be tested over next I'll try to help.

I hear your frustration and have 100% empathy. When I took chemistry after being out of school for eight years I barely was passing anything. I just did not get it. The proff did not help much so I hired a tutor who has another student in nursing and she helped me. It was a pass/fail class and I passed by only 2 points.

Is there another student you are friends with whom you can pair up with? Maybe that would help........

A study group is great, tutors can help too (lots of schools have them for free). Chemistry was the hardest class I've ever taken and I'd be a full time student for life if I could...

Hang in there!

Erinslone, you will be able to shake it off

Try a tutor ,your girls will be more proud that you didn't give up and you feel much better once you conquer this.

Thank you all so much for your encouraging words. I am still in shock but like you all said I need to shake it off. I really need to shake it off fast too because i have an A&P test at 10 in the morning tomorrow. I just hope that I can get over this by then.

Thanks again to all of you who answered my cries!! ;)

I'm doing well in Chem, perhaps I can help. What was the area that tripped you up?
