Can someone explain this to me please? I work with another tech that, to keep this post short, nobody on our unit likes. At all. She lies all the time about doing her job. She claims she has all of her baths done at like 8am (we start at 6) for 11 patients of which on a normal day 3-4 will be total care. She will up and disappear and not tell anyone. It's basically like working by yourself. This person is useless. Oh yeah, and you can't tell her any different because she already knows it all. Just ask her.:sfxpld:
So anyway she gets caught in a HUGE lie about something and one of the nurses was going to write her up. This was on top of HER calling in another tech to work without the charge nurse knowing about it!!! I was so thrilled to hear this but then our charge nurse somehow convinced this staff nurse to not do it. :angryfire:banghead:
Would I, as one of the techs who has been there quite a while (only one person has been there longer than me) be in the wrong to go to management about this situation? Her charge nurse has said repeatedly that they are going to have a talk with this tech. I ask this person every time I work with them if they have done this and they haven't (I've been asking for about 2 months now). If the charge would actually say something to her, I wouldn't feel the need to go above them but since nothing is being done, I feel I have no other option.
It's gotten to the point that I'm so sick and tired of this person I've started to float to other units.
I plan on being a nurse on this floor when I graduate and you bet your bottom dollar that if this tech ever does this to me, I'm writing her up no matter what.

why not call her up on it after you ask again if she talked to this tech.....a simple.....why not? would suffice.

Good point - discuss your concerns with the charge nurse. Going over her head will only make matters worse. It is possible that she is addressing the issue but is unable to divulge the plan with other staff members due to her position as a supervisor.

heck yeah, go up that management ladder - and keep going to the next person (including HR) if it's not addressed. That person ruins the workplace morale. She's a liability and everyone is suffering because of her.
