Age of transfer credit

Published

Hi All,

I took biology and chemistry classes 17 to 20 years ago, and I would like to transfer them toward a program awarding an associates level RN. Does anyone know of an accredited program that allows for such transfers? I think I just need a few more classes if the prior credits do count.

I do prefer an online program that is applicable in Tennessee.

However, if an online program does not exist, does anyone know of an RN program allowing transfer credits from @ 20 years ago in the West Tennessee area?

I do have a Master's in Social Work and a Clinical Doctorate in Social Work; I wonder if any of that schooling will bolster my application (speed up my completion date).

I appreciate your help!

Hi AngelKissed857, Congrats on your As! I understood that online schools had a practicum component in the applicant's community, but that does not seem to apply to RN programs. I certainly believe in practical experience as well- just hoping to get the academics done online. Thanks for the response!

Thank-you for your response, Verene.

Do you remember what you learned in class that long ago? If so you might find it worth it to inquire about testing out.

Could you tell me which program you enrolled in? I am in a similar situation. The majority of my science courses are 8-10 years old.

It depends entirely on your school. I'm in a very well thought of ADN program at my community college and concurrently in a BSN bridge program at a CSU. My Biology, Chem and Anatomy were literally 35 years ago, my physio and micro within 3 years of application. It wasn't a problem at either school. And I bet you remember enough.

I have Masters in Microbiology from India 30 years ago and I am thinking to evaluate my degree with WES.  Is it possible to get admission to Accelerated  BSN with my degree from India as they require non nursing bachelors degree
