First off...congrats on your soon to be graduation!!! :balloons: I myself just graduated last week from Kettering College of Medical Arts! Woo Hoo!!! :balloons: Where do you go to school...if you don't mind my asking?
I've looked about everywhere in the Dayton area regarding sign-on bonus' (well at least the hospitals). Everywhere is around 9-10K for 2-3 years. Kettering Medical Hospital and associated hospitals pays 9K for 3 years. And MVH and associated hospitals pay 10K for 2 years.
Unfortunately not as much as I hoped...but what can you do??? :trout:
This is how it works at the hospital that I'll be working at, and it's pretty much the same at the other hospitals in the area.
$10,000 sign on bonus (have to have proof of student loans)
At the end of the 1st 6 months -- $5,000
At the end of 1 year -- $2,500
At the end of 2 years -- $2,500
The only difference in the other hospitals is the amount of the sign on bonus ($9,000 & $9,500).
But don't forget it's taxed to death. You'll still end up with something more than yo started but boy is it disappointing. Sorry if I sound negative but I remember being so excited about my sign-on and the fact that they payed moving expenses until I actually got the check.
You know I hadn't even thought about that...thanks for the heads up! I'd rather be forewarned now and know what I'm really looking at than get smacked in the face when I see what I end up with!
Thanks flyingscot!

Ok, so in the past I have heard about the "signing bonuses" that some new grads get when they sign on with a hospital as an RN. I will be graduating next fall with my BSN from a Dayton area school. I want to work in either the Dayton or Cincinnati area. So my question is, DO SIGNING BONUSES REALLY EXIST? If so, can I get a rough estimate of how much and how long you sign for? I am in school loan debt up to my ears and I am still holding out hope for some sort of bonus when I graduate to help pay off those loan!!!
Any feedback is greatly appreciated!
