AFP medical center RN residency

hi. does anyone here have tried applying in afp medical center for rn residency this is a six months training. i just want to ask if they have physical requirement to those aspiring applicant? what if you are wearing eyeglasses can you still apply? because as what i've read on the other post they prefer those who are not wearing eyeglasses.

took the exam last oct. 6. My heart sank when I saw that there was a space in the answer sheet where you have to put the name of your endorser I had to write "walk in". Too bad I am not related to any of the hospital employees or military officials. Lucky for those with endorsers.

I have signed up for the exam and im about to review in preparation for it, but i dont know on what topic will i focus more... Can anyone that had taken the exam shed some informatiom on what to review please?

Hello nokolip, I signed up for the May 16 qualifying exam too. :D My schedule is 1pm- 3pm, I'm expecting a lot of drug computations in the exam. I don't know if I'm feeling anxious or apathetic at all, even my stock knowledge won't work for the exam now since it's been 2 years since I've read my nursing books and reviewers. :D Goodluck to us!

hi guys.. just wanna ask about this rn residency program..

1. is it an uncompensated voluntary work? like trainings in other hospitals?

2. do i need to pay for this residency? how much? for how many months is this residency program?

3. will you be absorbed after the residency?

4. is there an allowance during the training?

@bleuler: yes it is an uncompensated voluntary work (no allowance but sometimes the foods are free) though you don't have to pay for your 6 months of training here.. there is a chance that you will be absorbed if: 1. you have a very high evaluation from your head nurses and 2. you have a very powerful backer

@esg:it is a 100 item exam, expect a lot of computations

@maricargo: the exam is broad in general, most nursing subjects are included... but a bulk of the questions are computations so you better focus on that one

My schedule for the exam will be on the 30th of May..

Hoping that all of us will pass the COMPREHENSIVE/ "Anything under the sun" Exam.. see you nurses :)

Thanks Johnjo for sharing infos! I know now on what topic to focus more... I wanted to get in this hospital badly... But as I have read, I need to have a strong Backer? sigh... Im afraid that's a fail for me...

is it V.luna medical center? A friend of mine is now a trainee there. But she told me she won't be absorbed bec she doesn't have any backer. But at least she can get a certificate for employment not for being a volunteer nurse but as a staff nurse. You have to focus more on Medsurg, 100 items multiple choice. i think she was asked during interview to enumerate the 10 rights of drug admin. she was also asked something about IV therapy and drug computation of an antibiotic.
