hi. does anyone here have tried applying in afp medical center for rn residency this is a six months training. i just want to ask if they have physical requirement to those aspiring applicant? what if you are wearing eyeglasses can you still apply? because as what i've read on the other post they prefer those who are not wearing eyeglasses.

thank you in advance to those who will reply.

Sorry for the multiple posts. I hope we can all get in.

@johnjo i am too, scheduled for an interview tomorrow. will post regarding that tomorrow afternoon.

I did my Antibody Hepa B screening to see if my antibodies are reactive, I assume that the result itself will be enough to prove I am immune against Hepa B. I'll ask tomorrow regarding that matter. I hope we can all get in! Good luck!

@ yenn: thank you very much! i am scheduled for an interview on jan 31.. Good luck to us! but i heard that the only purpose of interview is for them to know what area they will assign you. It's your interview tom, pls let us know how it was.. :)

@chaw: after passing the exam, the next step is you have to go to the training hall. You will have to fill out civilian nurse resident application form. Dont forget to bring 1 pc. of 2x2 pic. bec you will attach this to the form. Also, bring a pen and a pc of paper, you will need this for doing an essay/narrative. Have yourself scheduled for an interview. mine will be on Jan 31, 8am. God bless!

@ johnjo: well in my case, I had myself be tested for Anti-Hbs. After that, I had my consultation. I showed my immunization record and lab result to my doctor. I requested him to write a medical certificate indicating that I am immune to Hepa B.

Usually, u have to undergo 3 serology test to know if you are immune to Hepa B due to vaccination (HBsAg: negative, anti-Hbc: negative, and anti-Hbs: positive). Since this is costly (around P1,900) I chose to undergo Anti Hbs only (p310) since I am confident that i didnt have any past infection to Hepa B. Im just glad my doctor gave me a medical certificate even if i just did the Anti Hbs test.

To those who already had their interview, please tell us how it was like.. Share your experience!*wine

Interview done yesterday!

I suggest you go there early. I was there at around 7:30 am, and I was number 20 on the list. Go straight to the Class/Skills Room, and list your name quickly because the waiting time is very long. I was nervous at first but the long wait was really hard. I was interviewed at around 2:25 in the afternoon.

As for the interview, you'll be asked about basic nursing concepts, such as IV formulas, and the like. Very very basic. They will ask you to tell something about yourself. Proper and fluent use of the English language is a plus. They will base their questions on your answers, so I suggest you probe them to the topics you really know. They will ask you what ward do you prefer to be assigned to, and why.

Don't be distracted about how will they react, and they will really read you. they will read your every movement, and they will know if you're interested or not.

They will only accept around 140-160 nurses, and the final list will be released on February 4th.

Hope this helps.

hi.. thank you so much for this very informative thread..

I am one of the lucky RN's who passed the qualifying exam and I am scheduled for an interview this coming Monday..

I am also, currently, a volunteer at a hospital here in Caloocan. It is already my 4th month this february, and I am hesitant to file my termination because I am still unsure if I'll be able to pass the interview in AFPMC.. But if I will, I might file my termination to DJRMH asap, though I am wondering if passing the interview mean that I am 100 percent sure to be included in the final list of RN residents? or should I still pass the didactic training?

I wanted to be sure on this before filing my termination..

thank you so much in advance.

I just want to know if when would be the next qualifying exam and when would be the submission of the requirements?

After passing all the steps in AFPMC maybe that's the time you can pass the resignation to your current hospital..

Be thankful that you passed the qualifying exam..

Good luck!!

thanks felicitypaul.. actually I was thinking of that too, but a friend of mine who happens to be an RN resident too batch August to Feb, told me that after passing the interview, we will undergo a didactic training for 3 weeks. And That would be 8-5pm Monday to Friday.. Unfortunately, it will be a conflict with my 6-2pm shift..

I cant give up my DJNRMH if I am not sure yet with AFPMC, any advice?
