Hmm - I live in central IL. This is the only thing I could find:
thank you for your help . this web site i found last night and so far i am truly am enjoying it. sometimes we nurses seem to work against eachother and it is wonderful to see us supporting eachother.
traumaRus did u check the school out? any other work shops? i kinda am trainig myself at this time, with books and different sites.
rn9west - do you plan to be self-employed? Or...if you plan to work for a doctor - have you tried to contact some practices and see what they would like to see in an aesthetic nurse? In the area where I live, I know there is a big derm/plastic surgery practice and they hire these nurses.
I am not an aesthetic nurse but hope that I can at least direct you where to work. You might also do a search of this website because I recall reading a thread about education for aesthetic nurses.
trauma r us,
thanks for all the info given. i have not really looked at being independent or working under a doctor...the truth is... after a heavy divorce..along custody battle..now even longer hours at a short staffed hospitol..i felt like i was wearing my years of sorrow on my face. so i took myself to a plastic doc...and who took away those lines? yep a nurse...and i thought ..WOW what a great job..to work at making people happy,pretty...sound silly, but that is what really started making me start looking at aesthetic nursing....so just as any line of nursing i have been looking around to figure out how to find away to educate and obtain skills. i figure before i can ask a pa for assist i would need something under my belt.
just a note and i am sure you will get what i mean with your super credentials and back ground...........i love being a hospitol nurse....i float from icu to medsurg,onocology,tele...and i find incredible people and the job has so much value. i just need something different, new experiances, new road
I am really excited to explore this line of nursing, thanks for all your help.
Would love to be the patient - lol!!
I just started a new job two months ago and am just completing orientation and I'm pretty overwhelmed at the moment. Thanks for the invite though.
Have you considered advanced practice? I know at the large derm/plastic surgery practice, they have APN's doing a lot and they are always expanding.
Good luck - let me know how its going. BTW - where are you located in IL?
sure n.p. would be a good route but at this time i still have two children and being the only parent in their life is a huge demand on me. taking a class here and there and a workshop..while working and taking care of them is all i can do at this time. but i just may take you up on the being a patient. where area did you start your new job in?
i live about 45 min north of chicago.
