Hi all,
I am an lvn currently going to school after 14 years to get my rn associates degree through Ec (although I am taking prereqs at cc ) then on to my bsn.
I am interested in nicu and wondered about the best way to get in the door and if you could recommend specific things I could do to increase my chances of being successful .
Thanks in advance for your advise,
Calliesue

Check out some of the older threads on this forum, there are several that apply to your question. My advice would be to see if you can arrange to have some clinical time in the NICU while in school, possibly spending your senior preceptorship there. Unfortunately a lot of NICUs don't hire LPNs, being a critical care area, but you might find a level II nursery job that may give you an idea of what it's like! Good Luck!
