Just looking for advice here: how long did it take you RN s to be comfortable and transition into your new role especially with delegation and being charge nurse, if you worked as CNA/Medaid or LPN in the same facility? Any advice or tips is appreciated .

Hi,welcome to the profession. You are new and shiny but not for long.It takes at least a year to become familiar and comfortable but not an expert. If you want to grow into your role, keep learning,go home read after your shift about cases you saw. Some places throw you to the wolves from day one and try to put you in charge, it happens.Do your best to remain error free, ask questions or call supv if things get out of hand,no public crying.Working as CNA or lpn before was not my gig but I was an adult with full time work experience.Nothing prepares you for reality not even school.Keep you mouth shut,be positive, immerse yourself in the work and learning.Good luck.
Thank you for your advice, Leader25. I have been in supervising roles before but not healthcare related. I am training with another charge nurse to learn the ropes of this new role.
