advice re: stethoscope upgrade

Published

since I will be starting FNP clinicals in a few weeks I am making a necessary and much-needed upgrade of my stethoscope.

I am considering either a Littmann Cardiology III or a Master Cardiology. I am a previous owner of a Cardio III that unfortunately was stolen:( I have not been able to afford to replace it until I now finally have some financial aid on the horizon. I know that it has the two tunable diaphragms, adult and pedi, and that makes it attractive. Plus I was happy with mine for the brief time I was able to keep it.

However, the Master Cardiology offers better acoustics and comes with some sort of adapter for pedi pts. I am not sure if I want to have to keep up with an adapter and fool with taking it off/putting it on...but have never seen one either.

Any thoughts, anyone - what are you fellow FNP students using? I guess I am leaning toward the Cardio III unless convinced otherwise.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I have the electronic steth from Littmann, the 3000 I think the model number is. That is the one I really love...good luck.
