Advice please!? Non-clinical RN jobs?

Published

Hi! I have been a nurse for about two years now. Back in March, I fell on ice and screwed up my back. I couldn't work for two months. I have been back work for about a month and it is starting to act up again. I am starting to worry if I will be able to continue as a floor nurse. Are any non-clinical RN jobs out there? Any ideas on jobs I could do with my BSN?

Thank you in advance!

I have been working as an RN case manager for an insurance company for six months. The work is sedentary and entails a lot of screen time in front of a computer or laptop. No touching of patients or performance of procedural skills is required.

In addition to case managment as commuter suggested, the yellow banner at the top of the forum has a 'specialities' section, where you will find information on various nursing specialities such as; infection control, occupational health, telephone triage, public health and quality improvement.

I do clinical documentation, which isn't mentioned too often in these forums - you have ZERO patient contact but you do interact with the providers - it's all computer work where you review charts for clarity of documentation (among other things) and query physicians when documentation needs some sort of correction, addition, etc. It also does involve a fair amount of computer assisted ICD-10 coding, but at least at my hospital they will train you in all of the above.
