Filipino UK nurse going to Australia

Hi! I'm a Filipino currently working in UK as a Theatre nurse. I applied for a job in Australia and fortunately I was accepted for the job. My problem now is I don't have Ahpra registration. Anyone who can help me how to go about the registration and have it really fast? i have read in the their website and some threads regarding registration though. I just want to learn it from somebody who knows and has experience. My visa here in UK will be expiring this coming october and i don't want to renew it though my employer wants to renew my contract. thanx!

Yes, i have applied already. I got a proposal for registration but with conditions because my medication management lacked supporting documents. I was invited to make a submission which i just did. I am yet to wait for the final decision.

And yes, I took the ielts exam beforehand. May i know what level is your ONP?

Hi, sorry I havent opened my email that I have used in here.

I was with City University of London. Our ONP programme leader made the documentation (the template in ahpra) then I sent a ctc of my medication management of my ONP work book. He sent it altogether and AHPRA accepted them. I registered with them last July.

Hi edsel.I am from the UK as well.I want to ask what documents did you get for Criterion 3

Just ask your programme leader, in our case in City Uni it was ben teh, he knows what to do. If youre not with city uni, just ask them to complete

then have the pages of your medication management be certified by a notary then send it to your programme leader or uni and they will attach together with the certificates they completed and they will send it to ahpra

Thank you so much danika!

Hi danika,

AHPRA is looking for criterion 3 from an independent agency that accredited the program and not the education provider.Did you encounter getting such document from the NMC?

NMC won't give that one, instead My uni gave me that document. The uni completed those 2 forms for me and AHPRA accepted them.

Hi ann, *** *** from City University will make those documents and he knows what to do already. Even doing the thing for ANMAC and those documents were accepted. I am currently finished with ahpra and anmac and just waiting for my EOI for me to start applying for migration which takes looooooong time.

Just email ********, and he will ask you to send your medication management pages from your ONP workbook (take note you need to have these notarised before sending to him) and he will attach it together.

Also, it doesn't matter I think what level of ONP you had. I don't know if every uni has different levels. But with city uni, even though I have higher level compared to my friend (Mine was HE 6, and hers is HE 5) we still had thesame decision from AHPRA, just as long you submit the needed documents

Hi danika! Thanks for replying. I have forwarded all documents to AHPRA and awaiting their decision. They have asked for an extension til July.I hoping to have the same decision as yours

Goodluck, I am sure as long as you have provided all those things, you will have thesame decision as mine. When your decision arrives, if you don't need to do bridging course, then your decision will be in principle registration. It means since you haven't submitted any proof of address in australia, you need to present yourself in person so you have to go to any ahpra offices within 3 months of the decision.

If you are not a british citizen yet, apply for an Australian visa straightaway, and upload all documents online. Everything is online and electronic, I did not send anything to the australian embassy, I just uploaded copies of my documents online. Here is the link https://online.immi.gov.au/lusc/login

it took 11 days for them to grant me the visa. I am posting this as when I received the decision, I have to find out everything as my friends in australia underwent bridging programme and I do not know anyone from the UK who had in principle registration decision. I don't want any of you to experience the anxiety I have experienced. Haha

just for future reference incase I can't visit this page again,

so arriving in ahpra you need these documents:

- passport

- visa in australia, (there is an option of stamped entry however australia doesn't stamp passports anymore, they only do everything electronically) so just show them a copy of your visa

- boarding pass

now this next ones are a bit tricky:

- proof of address (in this case, I opened a bank account in australia whilst I was still here in the UK.) this is the website where I opened my account NetBank - Smart Access Application - Commonwealth Bank. but you can try searching for other banks but this is the most convenient bank for me in my opinion

just use the address of your friend or family in australia and when you land, go to the nearest commbank for you to be able to get your debit card and for them to give you a certificate of account opening with the proof of address stated. then ask them to stamp the certificate as AHPRA doesn't accept unstamped bank documents. You also need an australian sim so they can register your bank details and also it comes in handy as I sent money to this account before coming to australia for me to use whilst in australia. with the mobile banking I can easily send money to my friend or regulate my transactions

next is your statutory declaration of expired CORS and ICHC (take note: these documents are only valid for 3 months but you don't need to provide a new one, just do a statutory declaration)

statutory declaration document depends on every state. So just refer to this page and click on STATUTORY DECLARATION FOR EXPIRED ICHC OR CORS Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia - International application resources

You need to have these statutory declaration be certified by a person in australia. it can be your friend or family who is a nurse, lawyer doctor and they're citizens of australia. or in my case, I went to nearest chemist in melbourne ahpra and have the pharmacist certify it for me for free!)

if you have submitted all of these, you will be receive your registration in AHPRA the following day.

Hope my post is clear, and good luck!

Hi there , just want to ask how the whole

Process went t, kinda clueless on the process, I'm a UK nurse and same as you have done ONP 5 yrs ago. Is there any way not to do the bridging program? Many thanks

I was backreading the posts, how did your application go?

Hi! thank you so much for the info.I dont know anyone from the UK who has successfully registered in Australia.I would just like to ask when certifying the ICHC and COGS would they require any documents?

As I remembered, they only required my passport I think as a proof of identification that I am the person they're certifying. However, it would help if you know a friend who is a nurse, doctor, lawyer, even an accountant who is already an australian citizen to certify your statutory declaration.

Thanks! I hope your EOI will be coming soon. The whole process of moving Australia would probably take more than a year because of the long wait
