I currently live and work in Illinois and am hoping to relocate to the Phoenix area to live near my parents. I applied to one Phoenix hospital system and wasn;t even considered for any of the jobs I applied for, despite being the ideal candidate for them based on experience.

I have 4+ years experience, ACLS, PALS. Will soon have my Med-Surg certification. My credentials and experience are impeccable and my references are also great. I even have my Arizona Nursing license already . So I can't understand why I wouldn't even be considered for an interview. Anyone have suggestions on what I could do? THe hospital in question doesn't have a recruiter you can talk to for feedback when your status on the job app changes to "no longer considered".

Would love to hear from other Arizona RNs who relocated here from out of state. Did you apply once you already moved or did you apply an interview before you got out here? I'd love to just move out here and hope for a quick hire, but I need a job secured before moving.

I'm in a similar position as you; I also want to secure a position before relocating. Have you looked into licensure requirements? Arizona is part of the compact, but Illinois is not. Would you have better success if you secured an Arizona license to submit with your next application?

I already have an Arizona license. I made sure of that before even applying. I guess the will keep at it and hope a recruiter takes me seriously.

While jobs are abundant here, there are more available nurses then jobs. Don't get discouraged after a single failed application. It will likely take you multiple applications to even get an interview as there are many nurses out here. Just keep trying and you're sure to get a job at some point. Hopefully sooner rather then later.

Sometimes, it is helpful to work as a traveler first. It's a good introduction for you and the hospital and you can figure out if you like each other or not and it helps you get your foot in the door. I personally wouldn't relocate across the country without working as a traveler first. A year of hell is a long time.
