Advice needed:trying to get in the ER

Published

I have been a nurse for almost 20 years, I have been trying for 6 months to get back into the ED, with no luck.

15 years ago I workd for 6 months in a community ED (hospital Closed) went to med surg for 5 years then pedi office the last 10 to have more time with my child. ED is my passion, I knew it the minute I stepped thru the doors and I would love to be able to work in an ED again.

I understand I do not have the "recent" experience but I have obtained ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC & IV cert, and studying for CEN. I am at a loss as to what else I need to do get hired in the ED. I have sent out over 30 resume and have been told over and over I do not have the experience they are looking for.

I have also called many hospitals and asked if I could volunteer or do an internship and have been denied even that.

I am not ready to throw in the towel just yet, anyone have any advise as to what else I could do to get into the ED.

Thanks
