Hello.can someone please help me with some advice.......
I am an ien planning to migrate to toronto soon.
Are nursing jobs easy to get?currently i am made to understand that for to be registered i should be a BSN.Since i am a diploma holder, does that mean i won't qualify to be registered as a nurse? So far i have submitted all the required documents to CNO and i am awaiting their response.
The other thing is it possible to get nurse aid jobs as i await my papers to go through since i have a family to support?

Generally Ontario is asking for BSN for licensure but my understanding is that they evaluate each applicant on am individual basis. If you are a diploma RN but graduated before a certain date(I think it it 1982) they may waive the requirement. Since you have submitted all your documents all you can do is wait and see. You might be able to get a job as a Personal Support Worker in the mean time but only if you have a visa allowing you to work legally in Canada.
The job situation for nurses in Ontario is pretty bleak right now but you are an RN with a specialty you may have more luck than others.

Everything lori has said is true. It also seems to depend on where you acquire your degree and how many years you attended high school. So only the provincial college can decide if you meet their requirements or require additional course work.
I know that when my family migrated to Canada, my parents were required to show that they could support their family for a certain period of time while looking for work.
So if you are granted permission to settle you can work at whatever you can find.
Ontario is bleak, AB is bad and from what friends tell me BC isn't doing much better.
Let's hope you have ICU experience.
