Hello, I am looking for any and all advice from nurses who have ever completed a telephone compliance conference with LARA (Michigan). I was served with an administrative complaint which stated I had violated a Michigan Public Health Code. I have a telephone compliance conference scheduled and I cannot afford to hire an attorney right now. I was working on a post cardiac cath unit. My patient was post cardiac cath and had a sheath removed from groin and I was monitoring the site for hematoma/complications.The allegation is that I reported off to an oncoming RN that my patient was stable and the groin site was soft with no hematoma or bleeding. My documentation that night was not the greatest to say the least, but this was definitely not the norm for me. The oncoming nurse told the manager that the patient had a 10cm hematoma. What I need to know is, when I am being asked questions by the department of licensing and regulatory affairs.....what do I say or not say ? I am so worried and I have tried to look up information online to no avail. I need help ASAP ! As my conference is coming up next week!
Thanks in Advance to any help offered

1. Stop posting online about this.
2. Contact your personal malpractice insurance carrier. This is exactly what they are there for, to help you defend your license and provide legal advice.
3. If you do not have a personal liability policy, you need to consult an attorney, preferably an attorney who has experience with dealing with board of nursing and license defense. The American Association of Nurse Attorneys offers a free lawyer referral service. Be forewarned, that very few attorneys with expertise in this field do not offer free consults but even a $150 consult fee may be worth the expense to save the thousands of hours and dollars that you have already put into your nursing career. You can find the attorney referral service here: TAANA | Attorney Referral
Since offering/requesting legal advice is beyond the scope of this site, thread closed for staff review. Best of luck to you in this difficult time.
