Advice for Legal Nurse job interview much appreciated

Published

Hi long timer reader, first time posting.

I am a UK ICU/HDU Nurse and have worked in this area since qualifying working full time and have worked in other units with an agency. Unfortunately within the next year or so my critical care unit is closing down much to the dismay of myself and others.

Due to this I have started looking at other jobs as I do not wish to be relocated to the new hospital where my ward will be moving.

So I have successfully landed an interview for a nursing legal role in a solicitor's office where one would assist the solicitors in reading through the medical notes during a medical negligence claim looking for causation.

So this is where I would love advice as all I have been told is for my first interview I will be placed in a room for an hour with a laptop (with a search engine) and a case.

What are they expecting of me in an hour? Do they want me to write a report of my findings if I think they have a cause? Am I using the NMC to state that a nurse did not act up to the code etc ? was protocols or policies not put in place ? Am I formatting a legal document ?

Any advice would be much welcome especially from nurses with experience in this field.

Kind regards
