i am new to hh. my DON and supervisor tells me to alter the date of the actual day of visit to patient to a previous date in order to "get paid" bec he forgot to check with intake and that since this patient is private insurance the date that i visited is not in the "covered time" or whatever it was in the 485. :argue:i had to tell the patient the bad news bec i was telling him that i would be visiting him till 9/22.i will refuse and see what my DON will say.:nono: i really want to quit this agency bec the pay sucks.i took this position bec i need to eat and pay bills..my background is pscyh the last x11 years in private and state mental hospital.i am always assigned to the gangbanger neighborhood for my home visits ( ie drug heaven area and gang war) and i have no benefits or support .my patient load is only x6 for the whole week...i am eating oatmeal and noodles to save money.all of my co workers are "on contract" and are work sponsored from the philippines and everybody else and they treat this DON like a GOD and will "do" anything she says...i am the only one that is pretty much not on contract on board. i recently applied to get a job at va hospital and i am scared that if i try to be resistive with "them" , my immediate supervisor might say crap on my reference check for my va application . i miss working in the hospital . wish i had not quit my old job in hospital without a job in line but i got tired and burnt out from being cancelled left and right as a full time staff and same people dont....thanks for letting me vent....:banghead::banghead::banghead: by the way this agency has jcaho and medicare accreditation ....aint that something? i appreciate any feedbacks:bowingpur

You need to get another job. If they have asked you to falsify the date on this visit, what will they ask you to falsify next? Are there any other hh agencies in your area? Could you go to another agency for hh or to do facility staffing? You could work at another agency until you get hired back at a hospital. Just get away from this agency. Not good for your license.

I'll also be scared if they hire directly from other country....hospital hiring foreign nurses is OK, but hiring for HH??? I am scared for the foreign nurses! run forest run!

I also quit after working at a hospital for 3 months because I believe my liscense is not safe...and everytime I go to an interview, I tell them that I quit because my liscense is not safe and I advocate for pt. safety. I dont bad mouth that hospital...and fortunately, until this point, I get hired 100% of the time. Just be honest with your future employers.:nono:

It is also illegal for your previous Supervisor and HR to badmouth you, you can sue them for this. :nono:

hello everyone..this is the deal...i worked in pscyhiatric hospital before and in all my interviews i was honest in telling them that i quit the state hospital bec i blew the whistle on our charge nurse and another rn who was hoarding 169 drugs in her locker and putting a padlock. this is in the nurses station...i reported to everybody ie nurse manager/ union rep/ etc and everybody is afraid.and ignored my complaint..so i went to hr ....told them that they call everybody including security and engineer to open the lock and get all the drugs in the locker where the charge nurse and other rn were hiding it...i told them i quit....that nurse still works there and they did not do disciplinary actions to both of them in fact they promoted them...aint that something..? i am having problems with all my interviews for potential employers for full time position

..all i did was advocate for patient safety and report all the ghost timesheets that my charge nurse did on top of the illegal drug stashing and hiding....to top it off...the charge nurse sister was a drug patient herself in my unit...

i am proud for what i did and i saved my state a lot of tax money......:nurse:

Do not volunteer info. Be willing to talk about situations in a guarded manner if asked, but don't volunteer the info. You most likely won't be hired if you bring up, during an interview, all the gory details about how you turned in everybody at a former place of employment. They might act interested in your story, but they won't hire you because they are afraid you will do the same thing to them. They have no way of knowing whether your allegations were true or not and from the employer standpoint will consider you to be a troublemaker. So don't shoot yourself in the foot at the interview.

thanks so much...no wonder i cant get in any hosp bec of my pscyh background and the stuff that they think i am a troublemaker instead of a patient safety advocate when i asked why i quit my state job in pscyh setting

.....wish i was not a dingbat ...they want to dig a lot of info about my gory story and never hear back anything from them...amen...

When I say be honest, I did not mean to go on the details. I just say " I quit because I believe my license is not safe, and there are practices that are not align with my values " dont go in details..it will appear that you are bad mouthing your previous employers... good luck!
