Hi everyone, I am an acute care NP with lots of experience moving to Brisbane. How is practice there for y'all? also is there an NP program at a university in Brisbane that I could teach at? Or even volunteer when I first arrive? Thanks for any information. I am looking forward to moving to your wonderful country!

Hello. I'm not a NP, & not in Brizzy, but try:
www.hotcourses.com.au for all the university & TAFE courses run in Oz (and other countries I think).
Try www.careerone.com.au for jobs, but better to try: http://www.health.qld.gov.au/nursing/default.asp
Also www.gumtree.com.au for jobs, housing available, etc. Sorry couldn't be more help!
I am moving up there either in 2012 or 2013 - saving up and fin study first hopefully - and Brizzy is beautiful - the city of gardens. It's not as hectic as the eastern cities and bigger than Adelaide (where I am) as Adel is seen as a big country town. It is all being re-built as well after the terrible floods they had not long ago in most of QLD.
My gf now lives up in Brizzy after she travelled, met her hubby, and she would not live anywhere else in the world. Housing etc is very reasonable, people in QLD are VERY friendly & the weather is beaut; tropical but not too humid apparently.
You need to learn the local slogan first - Queensland: beautiful one day, perfect the next!
Also try www.realestate.com.au for other housing opportunities, but I find gumtree really good for comparing real estate options.
Good luck and hope you like our wonderful country (no recession here!)

I worked in Brisbane in 19901/1992 and loved it. I cant offer advice on NP but I wish you the best. I found the public transport was great. I worked at the Royal Brisbane Hospital in Herston. I think thats the biggest hospital there.
