Advanced Diploma for EEN's

Published

I just find out from TAFE SA that now for EEN's there is a Advanced Diploma and it requires 7 units of competency to be untaken, 2core and 5 electives and it is requires a compulsory workshop in Whyalla for 5 days. That means it will take about one year of studying or more. I wonder as EEN's in QLD will it be compulsory to do this course and in the future will we be able to continue to work and will there be effect on us as EEN's without the Advanced Diploma???

I think you will find your employment options would be enhanced if you had the Advanced Diploma. Just as an EN becoming an EEN, the Advanced Diploma will take you to another level.

If you are asking in particular relation to nursing in Qld, I suggest you contact the Qld nurses board for verification.

It is my understanding that nurses registration / Enrolment will be made national in the near future. Therefore, the qualifications and requirements would have to be the same nationwide. I would imagine.

I did my EEN through Distance Learning via Spencer TAFE in Whyalla and have just been offered a place in the Advanced Diploma.

It is NOT compulary to take this course it just allows you to SPECIALISE in one area really. Plus a pay rise.

It won't effect your work as an EEN in queensland OR SA without the Advanced diploma.

The Advanced Diploma takes 6 months to complete.

Doing this Advancment ALSO leaves you with ONLY 1 YEAR if you decide to go do your Registered Nursing.

I live in Vic BUT studied at Spencer Tafe Whyalla. So I keep my EEN up to date PLUS my RN Div 2 here in Victoria as I would love to do the Advanced Diploma just to add to my knowledge.
